The bells rang out across the parish and the sun s The bells rang out across the parish and the sun shone yesterday for the Feast of St Ewe, and what a lovely occasion it was!

Community is strong here, (as in many parts of Cornwall), and @stewefriends was formed a while ago to try and protect the church and keep it open and available to be enjoyed by people of all beliefs, or none. A year ago @terryeteverson and I started a modest Sketch Club on the first Wednesday of the month for people to be able to draw in the quiet of this beautiful, otherworldly building, and yesterday we put on an exhibition showing the work produced, alongside some of the work made as part of our residency.

There were history talks throughout the day, over a hundred people walked across the parish with @michaelbunney5 and Dr. Joanna Mattingly spoke about the Medieval Rood and its Breton carvers. There was also a special loan from another church of the ‘St Ewe Chair’: dark wood thickly carved with a female Saint, her identity is fancied and debated - perhaps Mary Magdalene with her long hair, skull and book, crossing the sea in a coracle?

A fabulously geeky May day with a cold cider to finish - perfection.
